INTRODUCTION

We are a young family, have 2 small children 4 and 4 months old. Moved to Slovakia where we are going to build a natural house from COB with using recycled materials. We are looking for few volunteers to join us on our journey that want to learn some new skills and help in exchange. Do you like getting your hands dirty? VOLUNTEERS needed for BUILDING an ECO HOME fom COB (permaculture with earthen building) in Slovakia from the end May to mid September 2015 WELCOME to Slovakia to be part of the whole experience of ecological building, from the foundation work in Mayto the natural plasterwork on the finished house in September. David and Kat and their two children Leila (4yrs) and Evinia (4mths) invite you to help to create a sustainable and low carbon impact home (on a 1.5 acre plot) for the family in a small village near the town of Banska Stiavnica (https://www.google.sk/maps/place/Bansk%C3%A1+%C5%A0tiavnica/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x471532da0c4e3f1f:0xb7b95f1d8cf0a454?sa=X&ei=uAn-VIa6M4T5yQOKtoA4&sqi=2&ved=0CLABEPIBMA8) . The land is very close to a large lake) which has a small tourist industry in the summer time and provides opportunities for swimming and lovely walks and trials around the mountains. The design of the house is simple using cob techniques, recycled wood and other materials, and blends into the traditional building styles of the area and the mountainous landscape. You will experience earth building techniques, permaculture design and being creative with recycled materials. People with experience of carpentry, construction, gardening, or just interested to know more, are all welcome. If you are available during that time, end May to mid September, ideally volunteers would stay for a week or two,minimum, full vegetarian food menu provided and collection to and from the nearest town. An organic farm locally provides dairy produce and fresh eggs, and there will be home grown garden produce from early summer. The site is available for camping, with compost toilet and outdoor shower facilities. TASK LIST: May: Gardening and initial groundwork's drainage and foundation; Dry stone stem-wall, gardening June/July/August: Cobbing, gardening September: Roofing, Plasterwork; etc.
